The concert is co-sponsored by the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association (SVSA) and the Smith Mountain Arts Council (SMAC) and will feature 8 local songwriters showcasing an eclectic collection of songs and musical styles. Tickets are $15, or $10 for SVSA and SMAC members, available in advance from or at the door. Seating is limited so getting tickets in advance is recommended. Light fare including pizza, cheese plate, pastries, coffee, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

The Showcase Performers

Greg Trafidlo

Greg has performed from Beijing, China to Cork, Ireland, -- the historic, Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to Wrigley Field. His songs have been performed by folk icons such as Pete Seeger, Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen, and recorded by numerous performers including renowned bluegrass artist, Charlie Sizemore. Greg has performed with Bill Monroe, Peter Yarrow, Tom Paxton, Janis Ian, John Prine and with Kathy Mattea on Nashville’s WSM-Radio. He also has extensive credits as a publisher and record producer of over forty five releases and appears on over 65 albums. Greg’s songs appear on NPR's "Car Talk”, “Weekend Edition” and "Dr. Demento" compilations.

Mike Pearrell

Mike, a Martinsburg, WV native, has served as president of the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association. He writes in a variety of styles, bringing a strong narrative and emotional focus to each song. His songs have been recorded by various regional artists. Mike has released two CD's of original songs, Dimestore Detective and Cup of Contradictions on Kira Records.

Mickey Nelson

David Simpkins

Radford, Virginia-based performing songwriter David Simpkins has been actively entertaining audiences for over 35 years — starting with 22 years in cover bands. Since 2000, David has been focusing on writing and performing his own Americana-style songs. He was a finalist in the Appalachian Fair "Best Unknown Country Songwriter" contest in 2000 and was the winner of the Floydfest Showcase Stage "Best Song" in 2002. David plays regular solo acoustic gigs, and has performed at numerous songwriters-in-the-round events, festivals, benefits, celebrations, songwriters’ nights, and open mics. His music has been played locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally on a number of commercial, public, and internet radio stations.

Mike Franke

BMI recording artist, Mike Franke, is a talented singer/songwriter specializing in acoustic blues-biased Americana. Mike favors finger-style guitar picking, adds slide guitar to the mix, and sings in a rich, baritone voice with a touch of grit. Mike has been president of the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association since 2015.

Brooke Cundiff

Brooke is a singer-songwriter and Nashville recording artist from the Smith Mountain Lake area. She released her debut EP "Band Of Renegades, Vol One" in 2016. Her music has the ability to speak straight to the soul with lyrics filled with hope and faith with an outlaw country sound. Currently she is in the process of recording her second studio album. You can listen to the Band Of Renegades, Volume One EP in full at  

Steve Clark

Steve Clark has been writing and performing his songs for nearly 6 dog-years. He is a member and past president of the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association (SVSA). His CD, "Dog Joggin' ", features 11 of his own songs along with a few favorites by other celebrated songwriters. An “Alumnus” of the Swannanoa Gathering, he performs at venues, porches, and campfires in the Roanoke Valley and elsewhere in Central Virginia.

Mike DeGiorgi

Mike writes some songs that are funny, some that will make you cry and some that are downright quirky. Mike lives at Smith Mountain Lake, where he also performs with The Panini Brothers and recorded his first CD with the band.  His tribute to his dog Scooter, "One Last Chance To Chase A Squirrel" can be seen on YouTube.
