About the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association

SVSA helps members improve their songwriting knowledge and skills through song critiques, workshops and discussions of related topics in an encouraging and supportive environment.

SVSA offers performance opportunities, instruction, monthly meetings and a monthly newsletter.

Songwriters and would-be songwriters of all ages, skill levels and music genres are encouraged to join. Applications are accepted year-round. Annual dues are $35.00.


SVSA Meetings

Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm.

Doors open at 7 p.m., the meeting starts at 7:30 and lasts until the last song critique is finished, or 10:30 p.m., whichever comes first.

Meetings generally begin with a short introduction and may include a reading, songwriting exercise and/or a presentation/workshop by a guest or a member.

The remainder of a meeting is devoted to critiques of members' songs. Song critiques are limited to members only, but guests may attend meetings at no charge and are encouraged to sit in on the discussion and participate in any exercises.
