Copyright Jerry E. Gilmore 2013

Verse 1
Southwest Virginia Songwriter's Association..
Bring a song, or, a poem - ya' don't need an invitation..
Once a month, on Wednesday night, give a listen give a look.
You'll learn about prosedy, give your song a better 'hook.'

Verse 2
Now, if you've got a melody, think it's a humdinger..
Play a tape, or, sing it live, they'll put it through the 'wringer.'
Larry, David, Mike & Greg, and writers by the score..
Scrape barnicles, and clean 'er up' - you'll have a hit, I'm sure!

Chorus
If you sing and if you play, and you write songs..
Don't throw 'em away, write 'em down, come on along..
You'll be impressed, want to throw a celebration
For the, Southwest Virginia Songwriter's Association.

Verse 3
They'll talk about 'form and style' and alternate progressions..
"soaring melodies' and more, making smooth transitions
You'll melt it down, take it in, go home to do 'rewrite.'
Bring it back, a better song, next month on Wednesday night !

Chorus
If you sing and if you play, and you write songs..
Don't throw 'em away, write 'em down, come on along..
You'll be impressed, and want to throw a celebration..
