Songwriting Workshop with Sally Barris

Sunday November 5, 2017, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
3rd Street Coffeehouse
305 Mountain Avenue SW, Roanoke, VA 24016

I want to hear your song! Please join me in this fun and creative workshop on songwriting!

Participants are encouraged to bring one song they would like to receive feedback on with 16 extra copies of their lyrics. You may bring your guitar or small instrument (a keyboard will be available).

You will learn new tools and skills such as:

  1. How to get inspired and get unstuck.
  2. How to keep your song honest while still being accessible to a listening audience
  3. The importance of structure, what goes in the chorus, what belongs in the verses and how to write a strong hook.
  4. Writing a good melody & new ways to come up with different rhythms.

For this special workshop, 3rd Street suggests a donation of $20.00 ($15.00 for SVSA members), and all proceeds will go to Ms. Barris.
