“I started being a songwriter pretending I could do it, and it turned out I could.”

Who We Are
We are an association of approximately 50 members from varying musical backgrounds who like each others’ company enough to meet once a month to socialize, talk about songwriting, and critique each others’ songs, all in the interest of becoming better songwriters.
We are a welcoming, supportive community of people who believe that songs can change the world for the better. If you would like to hang out with us, we would love to meet you.
40 Years
Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association celebrated its fortieth year in December 2021. SVSA founder Sid Crosswhite was honored for his outstanding leadership and dedicated service to the organization as President from 1981-1999. SVSA is still going strong, holding monthly meetings for Roanoke area songwriters to exchange ideas and receive feedback, grow their songwriting skills and enjoy the camaraderie of others who love the art of songwriting. We welcome new members!
